Bear 2.3.11 update: Read-only mode, new themes, and more

We’re well into February, but Bear is just getting started! Whether you’re setting big goals or just trying to keep up, Bear is here to give your notes a fresh new vibe. We’ve added some of your most-requested features and a few surprises to keep things fun and focused. Let’s dive in!

📖 Read-Only Mode

Sometimes, you just want to read your notes without accidentally editing them. With Read-Only Mode, you can scroll through your thoughts and ideas effortlessly—perfect for focused reading or quiet reflection.

To enable it, open the ⫶ menu and select “Make Read-Only”. You’ll see a read-only icon appear in the top-right corner. When you’re ready to make changes again, just click or tap the icon and select “Make Editable.”

🎨 4 New Themes

Introducing Shibuya Jazz, Shibuya Lo-fi, Everforest Light, and Everforest Dark! Shibuya Jazz and Lo-fi are two extended themes as Dieci with absolute black #000000 background, perfectly designed for AMOLED screens.

The Everforest light and Everforest dark are based on the Vim theme Everforest made by Sainnhe, bringing you a warm and soft tone with mild contrast. Check out more Bear themes here!
